In the lead-up to the 1998 Harvest, iconic Geelong producer Bannockburn was hit with a devastating hail storm that took out 90% of their crops, causing producers all around the country to mobilise and donate fruit to this one-off project.

The 1998 Bannockburn Shiraz carries the designation "South Eastern Australia" - a region that covers all of Australia, excluding Western Australia. It is a region largely made for bulk wine producers to source cheap fruit from multiple vineyards in multiple states. In this case, however, it is a blend of some of the country's best Shiraz growers.

The full list of producers who donated is on the back, with those in bold being the fruit that was actually used. This wine has excellent grapes from producers like Henschke, Rockford, Dalwhinnie and Jasper Hill to name a few.

The fill level is high shoulder and the cork appears in tact. There is a small amount of sediment stuck to the neck from many years of lying down. The bottle was extremely dusty. We have attempted to clean it up, but some grime still remains. This does not affect the wine.
