Chateau Montrose bucked the trend in 2003 - a historically hot vintage that saw most growers scrambling to pick in the narrow window of optimal ripeness.

Throughout all of the challenges, the village of Saint Estèphe managed to produce the most consistent wines, but even amongst this crop, the 2003 Chateau Montrose has proven to be a wine for the ages.

The Chateau's own tech sheet describes the 03 as "fat and rich" with "powerful tannins". It is a wine that was built for the cellar and even with over two decades on the clock, it will last for so much longer.

The 2003 was a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
