Produced by California’s cult producer Sine Qua Non, the 2008 B-20 is a remarkable example of the power and individuality that have made these wines so highly sought-after. Founded by Manfred and Elaine Krankl on California’s Central Coast, Sine Qua Non produces teeny-tiny quantities of Rhône valley inspired wines, with each vintage given its own unique name and character.

The B-20 is a blend of Syrah from several of the region’s finest vineyards, including fruit from the Krankls’ renowned Eleven Confessions vineyard in the cool Sta. Rita Hills, alongside fruit from Bien Nacido, White Hawk and Cumulus. Deeply perfumed and intensely concentrated, it offers blackberry, blueberry and cassis layered with violet, cracked pepper, smoked meat, liquorice and crushed-rock minerality.

Despite its richness, the wine is remarkably balanced, with silky tannins, vibrant freshness and extraordinary length. Now beautifully mature, the 2008 shows the depth, complexity and sheer personality that have made Sine Qua Non one of California’s most celebrated names.
