From the legendary Diamond Creek Vineyards in California’s Napa Valley, the 2009 Red Rock Terrace is a superb example of the estate’s pioneering, single-vineyard approach to Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded in 1968, Diamond Creek was among the first Napa producers to bottle wines according to individual vineyard sites, and Red Rock Terrace is one of its most distinctive parcels. Its steep, north-facing terraces are planted in rocky, iron-rich red soils, producing Cabernet with a characteristic combination of richness and savoury detail. The 2009 offers beautifully mature aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry and blueberry, layered with dried herbs, cedar, graphite and earthy iron. Full-bodied yet finely structured, it has velvety tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish. Now at an excellent stage of maturity, this is classic, age-worthy Napa Cabernet with remarkable sense of place.
