From Henschke’s historic Hill of Grace vineyard in South Australia’s Eden Valley, the 2017 Shiraz comes from a tiny four-hectare site whose oldest “Grandfather” vines were planted around 1860.

Dry-grown and still on their own roots, these ancient vines produce one of Australia’s most revered expressions of Shiraz. The 2017 is beautifully perfumed, offering blackberry, blueberry and red cherry alongside sage, bay leaf, star anise, five-spice and subtle savoury notes. Rich and concentrated, yet remarkably poised, the palate is defined by silky tannins, vibrant acidity and extraordinary length.

There is a wonderful interplay between ripe, dark fruit and lifted herbal and spice characters, giving the wine both power and finesse.
