From Henschke’s historic Hill of Grace Vineyard in South Australia’s Eden Valley, the 2018 Hill of Roses comes from a one-hectare nursery block planted in 1989 with mass-selected cuttings from the vineyard’s ancient Grandfather vines.

Known as the 'Post Office Block', these younger vines are part of the same historic site but are not included in the Hill of Grace blend, instead producing a distinctive wine in their own right. The 2018 is beautifully aromatic, with raspberry, blackberry and dark plum layered with sage, bay leaf, violet, five-spice and subtle earthy spice. Silky and finely textured, the palate combines generous fruit with vibrant acidity and elegant, powdery tannins, finishing with impressive length and mineral freshness.

More immediately expressive than Hill of Grace, it nevertheless shares its remarkable genetic heritage and distinctive Eden Valley character. A superb expression of Henschke’s exceptional vineyard heritage, offering both pedigree and individuality.
