The Hospices de Beaune is the charitable institution that traces its roots back to 1443 and comprises some 58 hectares of vines across 41 climats - mostly premiers and grands crus - donated over the centuries. This wine is a blend of fives lieu dits of Corton (Bressandes, Chaumes, Clos du Roi, Fietres and Les Greves) and has been raised by the legendary Jean-Francois and Raphael Coche of Domaine Coche-Dury. The elevage takes place from when the wine is approximately one month old following the annual charity auction, and the resultant wine bears the hallmarks of the deft Coche hand. Very rare.
