We're not usually in the habit of copy-and-pasting directly from the producer's own text, but I can't quite bring myself to be more poetic than this:

Burlotto's Castelletto Barolo comes from around one hectare of vines in the Castelletto MGA just near the township of Serralunga d'Alba. The wine is fresh and aromatic with powerful tannins.

The 2021 vintage was one for the ages, with snowfall providing beneficial water to the sandy slopes protecting the grapes from a dry growing season, producing healthy grapes with concentrated tannins and phenolic compounds. In short, that makes wines that are extremely long-lived.

The Cru Barolos (those from a specific Barolo sub-region) were not produced by Burlotto in the much warmer 2022 with all of the fruit being thrown into one single bottling, so this is the only one you will see for a while!
