Croix and Courbet is a label born of a friendship forged in winemaking school between David Croix and Damien Courbet. While their winemaking paths took them to opposite corners of the globe - Croix making a name for himself in Burgundy and Courbet heading off to South Africa - the two eventually reunited in Eastern France's cultish Jura region - not far from the Swiss border and the city of Geneva.

Of their many wines, one of their top bottlings is the single-vineyard 'En Beaumont' Savagnin - a limited bottling from the famed lieu-dit in Château-Chalon, farmed by the team themselves.

Savagnin - for those that don't know - is a grape grown in Eastern France and parts of Switzerland that produces a waxy wine oozing with lemon curd and white flowers. This wine is made "Ouillé", which in Jura means it is made the way most of the rest of the world makes white wines - they top up the barrels to combat oxidisation during maturation. Other wines in Jura are deliberately allowed contact with oxygen to give them a rustic tang.

This is a special bottle that will reward careful cellaring, for those with the patience.
