Chiara Boschis' Langhe Nebbiolo is an exceptional wine taken from the estate's "fasci di buffer" - a handful of rows along the edges of their vineyards that border non-organic producers.

The result is an excellent and affordable glimpse into the world of E Pira et Figli's Barolo, as well as the estate's ability to ensure no inorganic contamination in their top bottlings.

Given this wine does not carry the Barolo designation, it does not spend as long in oak. With around 14 months in French barrique and at least a few months in bottle before release. All of this translates to an exceptionally elegant wine that is ready to drink tonight. Don't be afraid to throw it in your cellar though. It will improve with age, just maybe not quite as many decades as the Barolos will.
