Produced from 30 year-old vines in the heart of The Elms vineyard that have been grown using organic and biodynamic principles throughout. Around 20% of while bunch inclusions, the wine was aged for 16 months in 20% new French oak barriques.
Block 5, which is comprised mostly of the UC Davis clones 5 and 6 (with a little 10/5 included) planted around 2,667 vines per hectare, typically delivers a more savoury, complex and elegant expression of Pinot Noir than it's 'Block 3' sibling, and the vintage conditions throughout the 2023 growing season allowed for production of a classic release.
