Fuligni's reputation as forebearers of super-premium Sangiovese-based wines from the town of Montalcino is well deserved. Since the early 20th century, the estate has produced exceptional Brunello di Montalcino and by extension some of the world's finest Sangiovese.
But for those of us that don't want to wait decades for our Brunellos to mature in a cellar, there is Rosso di Montalcino. The Rosso appellation covers the exact same area as Brunello, but has lesser aging requirements. Producers use their youngest vines to produce incredible wine that is ready to drink now.
This is an accessible chance to try one of the great Sangiovese producers and see what makes Tuscan wine so famous. Make sure you drink this with a good, sturdy meal.
