Grape: Chardonnay

The 2023 Beauroy from Pierrick Laroche offers a floral nose and a lengthy finish, providing excellent value. Chablis like this are great for drinking now, but will age gracefully over a few years, developing a rich and creamy texture (not too long though!).

Beauroy is a tough bit of land a few kilometres northeast of the village of Chablis. With a thin layer of soil and a naturally dry microclimate the vines are largely growing in rock. Dry vintages bring concentration here from suffering vines and cold vintages carry severe risk of frost damage, but when it all comes together the Premier Cru wines of Beauroy produce something special with gentle acidity, dancing minerality and a longevitiy not seen everywhere in Chablis.

2023 in Chablis was categorised in Chablis by high-yielding vineyards, but the tough slopes of Beauroy hold the vines back to produce something special.
