2024 Girlan Lagrein
Originally founded in 1923 by 24 local grape growers, Cantina Girlan has grown into a cooperative of around 200 wine grape growing families, all eager to showcase what their particular parcel has to offer. As such, the winery has access to a diverse range of vineyard sites, allowing the winemakers to select the best wines for their desired style of wine.
In the bottle here is a quintessential Alto Adige Lagrein - bursting with dark, sour cherry character and other tart fruits, a hint of deep violet aroma and deceptively high tannin.
In the bottle here, these grapes were grown on warm sandy soils on the eastern side of the Bassa Atesina - the heartland of Lagrein. This is a benchmark example of one of the great Italian alpine styles.
