Moorooduc Estate takes a traditionalist, hands-on approach to their winemaking philosophy, focusing on expressive site-driven wines made from meticulously hand-tended vines. Planted in 1983, the McIntyre vineyard features vines growing in sandy, carbon-rich topsoil over cracking iron-oxide clay. The consistently excellent quality of their fruit commands a minimalistic approach in the winery: the fruit is hand-picked, fermented at cool temperatures with exclusively indigenous yeasts, and aged in new and seasoned French oak for up to 11 months.

The McIntyre Pinot Noir showcases a lovely combination of dark cherry, bramble and dried floral notes, with hints of spice and plenty of savoury earthiness. The palate is rich and evocative, with fine grain tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. Elegant but with plenty of character, and with decades of ageing potential, this is a must have in every Pinot enthusiasts cellar.
