Established in 1996, Savaterre is one of Beechworth's most highly respected Chardonnay producers, with a strong focus on traditional, Burgundian-style winemaking. The Frère Cadet vineyard (which happens to be across the road from the highly coveted Giaconda winery) sits in the foothills of the Victorian alps, at 440m above sea-level. Owner and winemaker Keppell Smith makes a point of treating all of his chardonnay parcels exactly the same, so any differences seen in the range are purely due to terroir; what a way to express the power of the site. 

the 2024 Frère Cadet is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay, showing white peach, nectarine and grapefruit, with hints of toasted nuts and spice. Rich and textured, yet kept fresh by bright acidity and a long, savoury finish.
