From Sam Neill’s organically farmed estate in Central Otago, the 2025 Two Paddocks Pinot Noir is a carefully assembled blend from four estate vineyards spanning Bannockburn, Gibbston and Alexandra. Each site brings its own contribution to the finished wine, resulting in a Pinot Noir that combines the region’s characteristic intensity of fruit with savoury complexity, texture and balance. Hand-harvested and matured in French oak, it is a considered expression of Central Otago, built around purity of fruit and a strong sense of place.

The nose reveals dark cherry, cranberry and ripe raspberry, layered with violet, dried herbs and warming spice. The palate is generous and concentrated, with a core of juicy red and dark fruit complemented by earthy nuances and subtle wood spice. Fine, powdery tannins lend a pleasingly tactile quality, while bright acidity keeps the wine fresh and focused. The finish is long and gently savoury, with lingering spice and a mineral thread adding further definition. With plenty of depth beneath its youthful restraint, this is a beautifully composed Pinot Noir that benefits from a little time to open up; decanting for 30–60 minutes before serving will allow its aromatic complexity and underlying fruit character to emerge.
