If you imagine the most robust Pinot Noir you have ever had in your life, then detune the fruit spectrum to a dark, brooding range where blackcurrant, cassis and bramble reign supreme, throw in a touch of black pepper and other sharp spices and you're in the ballpark.

The best of these wines offer great value thanks to a far greater complexity than the price lets on.
